Mrs. Fanny Fern French, age 79, of 701 Washington St., died at 11:25 a. m. Sunday, July 2, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient since May 14. Mrs. French was born Aug. 5, 1881 in Rainsville, the daughter of Dr. S. N. and Usadore Briggs Osburn. She was married in 1903 to Samuel L. French, who preceded her in death in 1915. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Pythian Sisters Lodge and the Troy Home Demonstration Club, all of Covington, and the Fountain Ladies Aid. Surviving Mrs. French are: one son, Louis N., or Portage; six grandchildren, including Eddie Grubbs of the Grubb Implement Store, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Earl O., in 1929 and one daughter, Mrs. Cleo N. Grubb in 1954. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Covington Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald Wade, pastor, officiated and burial, with the Hegg Funeral Home in charge, was in Highland Cemetery at Williamsport.   --typed by Walt W
